Colorado Employers for Immigration Reform1 (COEIR) believes that the choice on immigration is clear – it's between a realistic, comprehensive solution and piecemeal failure. We can't just build walls around a broken system – we need to fix the system to make sure we achieve real security, restore law & order and have enough workers to continue growing our economy. That's why we support a temporary guest worker program combined with clear, sensible workplace enforcement. Would you please think about joining COEIR , a new coalition that is making sure our collective voices reach the public and our legislative leaders? COEIR includes a broad base of Colorado businesses, including everyone from farmers to hotels to restaurant associations and owners.

MISSION

COEIR’s immediate and critical mission is to secure thoughtful and comprehensive immigration reform in the 110th Congress. This reform will carefully address business and economic interests through a campaign of public discussion and effective dialogue between business and political leaders, and the Congress of the United States.

COEIR PRINCIPLES FOR IMMIGRATION REFORM

  • National Security - Strengthen national security through effective screening of foreign workers with efficient and reliable worker identification and disincentives for illegal immigration.
  • Economic Needs - Provide for the present and future needs of our economy which depends on migrant workers including those already in the United States -- safe harbor provisions for workers and employers to ensure compliance, a practical process for a just resolution of the legal status of current undocumented workers, and adjustable market-driven quotas.
  • Rule of Law - Secure the rule of law through clear, humane, and sensible legislation resulting in fairness and efficiency for workers, families, employers, law enforcement and other government functions. Ensure that foreign workers enjoy the same labor law protection as do American workers.
  • Burdens and Responsibilities – Fair, reasonable and efficient distribution of all related costs, benefits and responsibilities amongst employers, workers, state and federal governments and taxpayers. Employers to accept a fair share of the administrative and financial burden.
1 COEIR is being formed as an 501(c)(4) organization following the example of Texas Employers for Immigration Reform, see their website at www.txeir.org.
